Officially Rejected Filmmaker sells out in LA and will make a Special Appearance in Tempe, Arizona February 23 2010 |
| And the man that fired the shot across the diegetic bow of cineastes everywhere? That would be writer-director-dream factory foreman James Nguyen. James Nguyen first saw The Birds in junior high. It scared the hell out of him then, and it still does now. He hopes you'll be just as frightened by his new film Birdemic: Shock and Terror, which the writer/director/producer/casting-agent/everything-under-the-sun describes as a "great homage" and "modern take" on Alfred Hitchcock's classic. How great? Nguyen returned to some of the same locations in Northern California, and enlisted friend Tippi Hedren (who also appeared in his previous film Julie & Jack) for a cameo. One of cinema's most persistent imagineers, Nguyen (legally trademarked as "The Master of the Romantic Thriller"™) funded his masterwork with savings accrued from his day job as a Silicon Valley software salesman. No less than five years in the making, Birdemic stands as a testament to Nguyen's dark, enduring vision. Nguyen will be at MADCAP Theaters and will host a post screening Q &A for patrons both nights. Officially Rejected from Sundance 2009, Birdemic has already sold out this weekend’s show at the Cinefamily in LA (hosted by Tim & Eric of Adult Swim) and will play in Austin, Texas at the world famous Alamo Drafthouse next week, followed by MADCAP Theaters next weekend. Friday March 5 & Saturday February 6 - The Room (8pm) & Birdemic: Shock & Terror (10pm) $10 Double feature |
